Rick Bayless is an American celebrity chef who specializes in Mexican cuisine. He is best known for appearance on the PBS series "Mexico:One Plate at a Time" and the Food Network series "Iron Chef America."
In 1987, Bayless opened the Frontera Grill in Chicago, specializing in contemporary Mexican cuisine. Two years later, he and his wife opened Topolobampo, considered by most as one of America's first fine-dining Mexican restaurants.
When not cooking, Bayless enjoys writing cookbooks. He has a best-selling cookbook "Mexico: One Plate at a Time" and is a contributor to a number of cooking magazines.
Rick has won a number of awards throughout his career. Some of those awards include Best New Chef of 1988, National Chef of the Year in 1995, Cookbook of the Year in 1996, and Best Chef in New York City in 2002.
Rick Bayless is the brother of ESPN personality, Skip Bayless.
