Roberto Benitez studied the sweet science of boxing at the young age of 10, which he initially became involved to protect himself from schoolmate/neighborhood bullies and escape negative influences. As it turned out, Benitez was a hardworking prodigy who quickly learned how to throw devastating combinations.
This young phenomenon is a 10x national champion, two of which include the 1997 and 1999 National Golden Gloves Championships. In 1998, Roberto proved he was amongst the world's top boxers when he defeated number one world ranked Cuban boxer Manuel Mantilla at the Goodwill Games and garnered a silver medal for the country. He tacked on more to his impressive resume by capturing 4 Everlast Championships titles.
Seeing this man stroll along, one would not consider him a man to be feared, however, Roberto became one of the nations best amateur boxers and earned a spot on the 2004 Olympic Boxing team, remarkably making him the first boxer from New York to make the Olympic team since former heavyweight, Riddick Bowe in 1988.
Roberto was a member of the United States Olympic Education Center's boxing scholarship program where he attained a Business Degree from Northern Michigan University. While at NMU, Roberto had the opportunity to train with some of the most elite boxers in the world under the direction of 1996 Olympic head coach, Al Mitchell.
Today Roberto Benitez is undefeated as a professional boxer, yet boxing is not all there is to this charismatic athlete. Roberto was recently featured in FHM Magazine, and will appear in the new spring/summer Rocawear Ad/Video “I Will Not Lose” Campaign. Roberto is also featured in this month Latina Magazine, having the priveledge of being the first male interviewed in an article for this periodical.
MTV took interest in this young role model and invited him to be a part of a “Tu Pride” commercial on TR3.
Roberto is the C.E.O. and founder of Team Benitez Inc. The Team has been actively involved in Youth Advocacy, where Benitez, and The Team visit Boys and Girls Clubs, as well as youth centers, and detention centers around the country, giving boxing demonstrations, and motivational speeches to the Kids.
Roberto Benitez is currently undefeated as a professional boxer and is one of the most promising young boxers to succeed. He made his professional debut in April 2005 on ESPN's “Friday Night Fights” with a victorious performance. He has continued his quest to become Champion of the World while proving his transformation into a mature fighter by his devastating combinations and exhilarating knockouts.
