Paul was born in Lamaline, NL and the youngest in a family of 14. He completed his high school in Lamaline and worked in his father's company during his school years. After attending one year at Memorial University in St Johns, NL, he moved to Alberta and began working for his brothers company Collins Steel. Paul went on to work with Ironco and as then as a Boilermaker Welder until he started Collins Welding from 1979 - 1984. In 1984, with the assistance from his wife Karen, Paul started Collins Industries Ltd.
Paul has served on the Alberta Apprenticeship Board for structural steel and plate fitter trade for eight years and is presently the Chair for the Alberta Region of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction and the National Marketing Committee. Paul is an active community member that is involved in fundraising efforts for compassionate causes and is presently involved with raising funds for a village infrastructure in South Sudan.
