Since joining NBC in 1985, Miklaszewski was also White House Correspondent during the Bush and Clinton administrations, covering President Bush during the Gulf War with Iraq, summits with Gorbachev and Yeltsin, and his reelection campaign in 1992. Miklaszewski reported on President Clinton's transition from Little Rock to the White House, the scandals and controversies, and his reelection. He was also a floor reporter at both the 1996 Republican and Democratic conventions.
Prior to joining NBC News, Miklaszewski was White House Correspondent for CNN during Ronald Reagan's first term, and logged considerable foreign experience with his battlefront coverage of wars in Lebanon, El Salvador and the Falkland Islands. Miklaszewski was awarded cable's "ACE" award for his coverage of the war in El Salvador. His series, "After Nam," a documentary on the aftershock of the Vietnam War in America earned the "Edward R. Murrow" award for journalism.
