Matt Matheny was born February 11, 1970 in Shelby, North Carolina and is an American college basketball coach and the current men's basketball head coach at Elon University. He replaced Ernie Nestor in March 2009. Prior to accepting the job at Elon, Matheny spent 16 seasons, beginning in 1993, as an assistant coach at Davidson College, his alma mater. In 1992, Matheny graduated from Davidson College. He attended North Iredell High School and lived in Statesville, North Carolina.
