Greg Monroe was born June 4, 1990 in Harvey, Louisiana and is a college basketball center for the Georgetown Hoyas. In his freshman season at Georgetown he was named Big East Rookie of the Year. He is considered one of the best underclassmen in college basketball and is considered a future first round pick. On April 17, 2010, Monroe decided to forgo his final two years of college and enter the 2010 NBA Draft.
Monroe attended Helen Cox High School in Harvey, Louisiana. As a senior in 2008 he was selected to the McDonald's All-American Team and earned Parade Magazine All-America first team honors.
