One of the most dominant and revolutionary defensive players to ever take the gridiron, Lawrence Taylor was a one man wrecking crew for the New York Giants in the 1980s and 1990s.
In each of his first nine seasons, LT was named first-team All-Pro. An intense player, Taylor had the speed to run past opposing blockers but also the strength to out-muscle them. Beginning with Taylor's rookie season, the Giants began a 10-season run where the team made the playoffs six times and won two Super Bowls.
An All-America at North Carolina, New York chose Lawrence Taylor with the second overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft.
Taylor's accomplishments are many, but his finest statistical season came in 1986 when he was named MVP of the NFL - the first defensive player to take the honor since 1971. Taylor recorded a career high 20.5 sacks, 105 total tackles, five passes defensed, and two forced fumbles that year..
Taylor recorded 132.5 quarterback sacks, 1,088 tackles, 33 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries and nine interceptions during his career. Taylor was a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and was named to the NFL's 75th Anniversary All-Time Team.
