Tony Award winner Laura Benanti has performed in concert at the most prestigious venues across the country. She released her first solo CD last year, “In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention,” recorded live at New York’s 54 Below, where she’s played numerous sold runs; the CD has received tremendous critical acclaim, and numerous awards. Concert highlights include Michelle Obama’s Democratic National Committee Fundraiser at Broadway’s St. James Theater, Ford’s Theatre Annual Gala for President and Mrs. Obama, the world premiere of “I Am Harvey Milk” with the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, Barbara Cook’s Spotlight Series at the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center’s American Songbook, Kennedy Center Honors, Wolf Trap with the National Symphony Orchestra, Chicago’s Ravinia Festival, Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops, and nightclub engagements from coast to coast.
Laura joins the season three cast of ABC’s hit series "Nashville" as songbird ‘Sadie Stone.’ Most recently, she also appeared in recurring roles on CBS’S "The Good Wife" and Showtime’s "Nurse Jackie," in addition to her critically acclaimed performance as ‘Elsa Schrader’ in NBC's wildly successful "The Sound of Music LIVE," for which Time Magazine noted, “Laura Benanti brought a level of complexity to the Baroness that I’d never seen before…her songs were far the best in the show.” You may also know Laura from her starring role on NBC’s "Go On" opposite Matthew Perry, NBC’s "The Playboy Club," NBC’s "Law and Order: SVU," Showtime’s "The Big C" and USA’s "Royal Pains."
Laura is a highly celebrated, four time Tony Award-nominated stage actress and has been since she took Broadway by storm at the age of 18. She received a Drama Desk award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Tony Award Nomination for her starring role in the Broadway production of "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" for Lincoln Center, where she also starred in the Broadway production of Sarah Ruhl’s "In the Next Room or the Vibrator Play." Benanti earned the 2008 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her revelatory portrayal of ‘Gypsy Rose Lee’ in "Gypsy" opposite Patti LuPone. Her other Broadway roles include "The Wedding Singer"; "Nine" starring Antonio Banderas; her Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award-nominated performance as ‘Cinderella’ in Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods"; and her sultry, Tony-nominated turn in "Swing!" Benanti made her Broadway debut as ‘Maria’ in "The Sound of Music" opposite Richard Chamberlain. She was most recently seen on stage for her lauded performance in New York City Center Encores! production of "The Most Happy Fella" alongside Cheyenne Jackson.
