Jody Thompson is most widely known for her regularly recurring character "Devon Moore" on the USA network's television series The 4400.
She is also the President of the International Filmmakers Institute -- a production company dedicated to the creation of film and video artworks which endeavor to relieve social injustice and advance a message of hope, mercy and reconciliation.
The 40 min film, "Montana de Luz", marks Ms. Thompson's debut as a documentary film producer. It is a heartfelt story about an Honduran orphanage that cares for children living with HIV. The film was an Official Selection at the Rhode Island International Film Festival 2008 and the Winner of Heartland Film Festival's Crystal Heart Award. (An award which "honors filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life.")
Her writing/directorial debut was, "Will of the Wisp;" a short experimental film funded by The Canada Council for the Arts. It is an impressionistic portrayal of a young girl's recovery from childhood trauma: "a silent film that speaks through a series of post-structuralist and surrealist signifiers in conversation."
