Ed Gavagan is the owner of PraxisNYC, a design firm specializing in boutique residences and aimed at designing for sustainability, habitability, durability and beauty. In 2007 Gavagan told the story Drowning on Sullivan Street at the Moth, the series devoted to stories told live without notes, about his near-death experience on the streets of New York as the victim of a gang initiation rite. His stories have been heard on NPR and the Moth podcast, and he has appeared onstage with the Moth in events across the U.S. Gavagan lives in New York City with his wife and daughter.
Ed Gavagan has designed and built homes and furniture for fancy people and humble folk all over the world. His work has been featured on the cover of Elle Décor, in Architectural Digest, the NY Times, Architectural Record, Global Architecture and other periodicals and books worldwide. He has appeared on HGTV, The Peoples Court and the A&E Biography channel. Becoming a part of the Moth has been an amazing experience, full of incredible personalities and their stories. Ed is very grateful to have an audience through the Moth with iTunes, NPR, MainStage shows and the story slams in NYC. He lives in Manhattan with his wife and baby daughter and hopes to build a house for them one day.
