Don Marsh has had many experiences in a lot of different areas, but they all seem to come together in his role at Red Tie Music.
Don grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and received his Bachelor of Music degree from Nyack College, NY, and his Master of Science degree from Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.
He taught at Baptist Bible Seminary, Scranton, Pennsylvania and began a thirty-five year career of church music ministry and free-lance music arranging and producing after moving to Nashville, Tennessee. While in Nashville, Don served as the VP of Publishing for the Benson Publishing Company, where he worked with such greats as the Gaithers, Sandi Patti and Larnelle Harris. There have been a lot of people in between, but most recently, Don has written for Christian recording artists Todd Agnew and Brian Free and The Distance. His arranging and orchestrating has spanned the musical styles of Contemporary to Southern Gospel, and from Big Band Swing to Classical in his work with the Grammy award winning sopranos, Jesse Norman and Kathleen Battles.
His work has earned him 13 Dove Award nominations and 2 Dove awards, 3 Emmy Awards, an Angel Award for Excellence in Media and a Gold Record for sales of over 500,000 units for the Lift Him Up series. He has over 3000 published works and has produced thousands of recordings of his work. His best-known series include Beside Still Waters, and Hymnworks with his sister, pianist Linda McKechnie, each selling hundreds of thousands of units.
Don has written for, conducted and recorded The London Symphony, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Nashville String Machine. He served as the Minister of Music at several churches through his career including Calvary Temple Church in Denver, CO., and Skyline Wesleyan Church with John Maxwell, San Diego, CA. He has done work for the ministries of Dr. David Jeremiah, Dr. Charles Stanley, Dr. John McArthur and Dr. Jerry Falwell. He also started his own internet worship resource company called The Worship Company, as well as a Christian concept company, Cool Springs Records.
Even with all these accomplishments, Don has said that the work that has proven to be the most rewarding and fulfilling is the work he finds himself doing today: teaching and mentoring the songwriting and arranging students at the Center for Worship at Liberty University and Red Tie Music.
