David Wade Ross was born March 19, 1977 and is an American professional baseball catcher with the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). Ross played college baseball for Auburn University and the University of Florida, and participated in two College World Series. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers, and has played for six different Major League teams. Ross made his debut in the major leagues in 2002 with the Dodgers and his since played for the Pirates, Padres, Reds, Braves, and Red Sox. Primarily a back up catcher, Ross has made a living at embracing his role on the many teams he has played for and was a key contributor to the Red Sox World Series Championship run in 2013.
In his career, Ross has played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, and the Chicago Cubs.
