Tyler Hansbrough was born November 3, 1985 in Columbia, Missouri and is a basketball player who completed an enormously successful college career with the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team in 2009. Hansbrough was a unanimous selection for the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference All Conference Team, 2006 ACC Freshman of the Year, and 2008 ACC Conference Player of the Year.
In 2008, Hansbrough swept all major individual honors in men's college basketball. For a North Carolina men's player to have his jersey retired, he must win at least one of seven national player of the year awards: the Associated Press, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Sporting News, the Best Male College Basketball Player ESPY Award, the Naismith Award and the Wooden Award, and wait until his class has graduated. Hansbrough won all seven, and returned for his senior season.
