Travis Kvapil is an American professional stock car racing driver. He currently competes part-time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, driving the No. 39 Chevrolet SS for Hillman Smith Motorsports, and in the Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 1 and No. 50 Chevrolet Silverados for MAKE Motorsports.
At age 20, Travis Kvapil won the Super Late Model title at Madison International Speedway, making him the youngest track champion.
He began competing in the ARTGO Challenge Series in 1997. From 1998-2000, Kvapil finished in the top 10 in points including a fourth-place ranking in 1999. He set two track records in 2000, on his way to seven Bud Poles and finishing that year with 8 top-fives and ten top-10s in 24 races to rank fourth in the final point standings and win rookie of the year.
Kvapil jumped to the Craftsman Truck Series in 2001 and in October of that year, he picked up his first victory at Texas. His success continued in 2002, and in 2003 he won the Truck Series Title. He ended the season with a total of 13 top-fives and finished in the top 10 in 22 out of 25 races.
Kvapil recorded the first victory in NASCAR for Toyota in 2004. In 4 years in the Truck Series, he finished in the top 10 in points every time. In 2005, he moved full time to the Cup Series. After recording three Cup starts in '04, he made two top-10s in '05, including a seventh-place run at Bristol.
