Steve Dewart is an organizational consultant and leadership guide. For the past 12 years, he has been committed to developing authentic leadership practices in the boardrooms and offices of corporations, nonprofits and educational institutions. His approach is unique in that he strives to integrate personal development into his coaching work with executives and managers in a way that is grounded and results-oriented.
Steve was a Co-Founder and Partner in Orion West, a consulting firm based in Santa Barbara, California. In his role with Orion West, Steve provided coaching, mentorship and guidance to the Presidents, CEOs and senior managers of over a dozen organizations, including a major utility company, several software companies and a major public educational institution. Over the past 8 years, Steve has been integrally involved in dozens of organizational change initiatives at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Through extensive joint work with the University leadership group, Steve has brought about major changes and improvements in how the leadership within the Housing and Facilities Departments manage and operate.
Before joining Orion West, Steve Dewart was head of Corporate Development for Star Telecom. In this position, Steve played a leading role in successfully managing the integration process of four acquisitions; developed and led a highly successful leadership development program for middle-level managers; served as an executive coach to senior-level personnel; as well as facilitated strategic planning and problem-solving sessions for department leaders.
Steve earned his M.A. in Organizational Psychology at the University of Rhode Island and holds a B.A. in Psychology from Duke University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He is a trained Vision Fast Guide through the School of Lost Borders, and enjoys leading small groups on spiritual quests and pilgrimages. He lives with his wife and son in Lyons, Colorado.
