Born on March 19, 1987, Scott Weltz is an American international swimmer. He was specializing in breaststroke events. He became a member of the Los Paseos Aquatics Club during his early years. He qualified to swim for the Summer Olympics dropping time in his specialty as if he were on a crash diet. He won the 2006 Big West Freshman of the Year. He qualified for the 2008 Olympic trials but his best finish was 30th in the 400 individual medleys. He was 38th placer at the 2008 U.S. Olympic trials in the 200-meter breaststroke. He was named the 2009 and 2010 Big West Conference Male Athlete of the Year while swimming for UC Davis. Two weeks after returning the 2010 NCAA championships Davis dropped the men's swim program. He was a member of the 2012 United States Olympic team, and placed fifth in the 200-meter breaststroke event at the 2012 Olympic Games. At the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials held in Omaha, Nebraska, the U.S. qualifying meet for the Olympics, he made the U.S. Olympic team for the first time by finishing first in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2.
