Heading into the final race of the 2003 season, Scott Dixon tied for the lead with with two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves. Three other driver's were also eligible for Championship. But, In the end, Dixon's second-place finish was good enough to win the historic five-car battle for the points championship.
Since that epic battle, Dixon has had a tough time regaining his winning ways. In the two seasons following his championship, he won only one time and finished in 10th and 13th place in 2004 and 2005 respectively.
In 2002, Dixon finished 13th in CART point standings, scoring three top-five finishes, including a second place at Denver.
Dixon made CART history at Nazareth in May 2001 by becoming the youngest winner in CART history at 20 years and nine months. In his rookie season the New Zealand native recorded six top-five finishes and 10 top-ten finishes. Dixon's accomplishments with PacWest earned him 2001 CART rookie of the year honors.
Dixon's hobbies include surfing, snooker and indoor karting.
