Rusty Mandap is one of the nicest tournament players that I know. Every time I see him, he is always pleasant and friendly. I see him quite a bit considering he is from the Los Angeles area and his favorite tournament game is the same as my favorite, Omaha High-Low. His second favorite game is Limit Holdem. Whenever either of us gets knocked out of the tournament, we tell the other that it must mean that it is their turn to win. I asked Rusty what his dream is regarding poker and he said that he would someday like to win the Omaha event at the World Series of Poker. He said that his favorite Omaha player is Steve Badger. He stated that he loves when he goes to a tournament and gets seated at Steve's table. Nothing personal about it, but he enjoys watching his game and likes learning from him. Sitting with Steve also helps challenge Rusty. He said that when he plays a hand against Steve, he knows that he needs to have a strong hand. He also stated that he likes how aggressive Steve is, especially against weaker players. Rusty works at Hawaiian Garden's Casino as a tournament director. He also plays many of the tournaments in the Los Angeles area. Rusty almost realized his dream in 2006, when he came in second in the $2000 World series of Poker Omaha High Low event. He managed to get by 668 entrants, but just couldn't get by the last one.
