Rodney Fisher is longtime sports enthusiast that decided in 2009 to become part of the sports media landscape. He started a sports podcast and website, RF Sports Radio, that grew in popularity and listeners with every show. The podcast was nominated for Podcast Award in the sports category the first year and landed in the Top 20 on iTunes. He began to cover both the NCAA and NBA as a credentialed media member in 2009, attending the home games of the Dallas Mavericks and bowl games throughout Texas. Since 2009, he has covered every NBA Finals series.
In 2011, Rodney became a radio host for Deep End Media’s “Sports Saturday” in the Dallas/Ft. Worth market and expanded his media presence by doing play-by-play broadcasting for Texas high school football and the MPFL. The same year he covered the Dallas Mavericks as they won their first NBA championship in franchise history. That offseason, Rodney was hired by NBA player Jason Terry to broadcast the Lady Jets AAU Team Championship in Orlando, Florida. During that time he broke the national story of Terry’s move to the Boston Celtics giving him a national audience on outlets like ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, and Fox Sports. In 2012, he launched his own internet sports radio station RFSN. The network to date has an average listener base of 250,000 per month. Between being the editor of RFSportsRadio.com and program director for RFSN, Rodney also serves as editor for Fansided/Sports Illustrated blog TheSmokingCuban.com, contributing writer to Dallas/Ft. Worth publication Blitz Weekly, contributing writer for Yahoo! Sports, and play-by-play commentator for Texas high school football and NCAA football. He also now a NBA media credentialed member covering the NBA all season.
