Patrick Chung was born August 19, 1987 in Kingston, Jamaica and is an American football safety for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Oregon.
Chung was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round (34th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He signed with the Patriots on July 27, 2009. In the Week 6 game against the Tennesee Titans on October 18, Chung was credited with his first career interception. He also totaled eight tackles, four of which were solo. He finished the season with 16 games played (one start), recording 37 tackles, one interception, and two sacks.
In an October 4, 2010 Monday Night Football game against the Miami Dolphins, Chung blocked both a punt and a field goal, which led to Patriots touchdowns. He also returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown in the same game.
On January 9, 2015, Chung signed a 3-year extension with the Patriots worth up to $8.2 million with incentives. He played in Super Bowl XLIX, on February 1, 2015, where he had one tackle in the Patriot's 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
