Brooks won an Academy award for best original screenplay in 1968 for the original "The Producers".
The '70's were very good for Brooks. In 1974, "Young Frankenstein", "Blazing Saddles" also in 1974, "Silent Movie" in 1976, "High Anxiety" in 1978.
Mel Brooks continued his to put his humor on the big screen in the '80's too. In 1981 Brooks scored with "History of the World Part I", and in 1987 with the cult classic "Spaceballs".
Most recently, Brooks has played himself on the hit HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm".
