Leonard Marshall is famous for knocking out Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana during the 4th quarter of the 1990 NFC Championship game. He hit Joe Montana so hard in that game, Montana suffered a bruised sternum, bruised stomach, cracked ribs, and a broken hand. This would be the last game Montana would ever start for the 49ers. Thanks to Marshall's hit, Montana was seen wobbling off the field, with team doctors by his side; tears can be seen rolling from his eyes and cheeks. CBS Announcer Pat Summerall reported in regards to Montana's condition "everything is hurting". Marshall intended no malice for the hit although just a few plays earlier, 49er Jim Burt went low and temporarily knocked Giants QB Jeff Hostetler out of the game.
