Lawrence Kasdan's introduction into the movie business came in the mid-1970s when he sold his script for "The Bodyguard" to Warner Bros Pictures.
In 1979, George Lucas commissioned Kasdan to complete the screenplay for "The Empire Strikes Back." Lucas then commissioned Kasdan to write the screenplay for "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and the last movie of the original Star Wars trilogy "Return of the Jedi."
Kasdan directed the hit "Body Heat" in 1981, which was hois directing debut.
Kasdan was raised in Morgantown, West Virginiaand attended the University of Michigan as an education major.
