Lauren Cheney was born September 30, 1987, Indianapolis, Indiana and is an American soccer player and member of the United States women's national soccer team. She is currently a forward for Women's Professional Soccer's Boston Breakers.
On January 15, 2010, Cheney was selected by the Boston Breakers with the second overall pick in the WPS Draft.
Cheney made her first appearance for the senior U.S. women's team on January 26, 2007, against Germany. Cheney, a forward, was named to the U.S. roster for the 2008 Summer Olympics after Abby Wambach was forced to withdraw from the Olympics with a broken leg. She appeared in three games as a substitute. She scored the first goal for the U.S. team in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup against North Korea on June 28, 2011.
