Larry Parrish was one of the most feared power hitters in the 70s and 80s, belting 20 or more home runs five times in his career.
Parrish hit .263 for his career, including 256 home runs and 992 RBI in 1891 games. After retiring, Parrish became a full-time coach with the Detroit Tigers organization.
In 2005, Parrish managed the Tigers' AAA minor league Toledo Mud Hens to an impressive 89-55 record and the International League Championship. Parerish was named the 2005 Minor League Manager of the Year by The Sporting News for his efforts with the club.
