Joseph Hachem is a professional poker player best known for winning the 2005 World Series of Poker main event. This was seen as a great accomplishment not only because of the difficulty of winning an event such as the World Series of Poker, but this tournament was also the largest field in history of over 5,000 players.
Hachem began his poker career in 2002 after giving up his career as a chiropractor due to a rare blood disorder. He went on to place second at the 2006 World Series of Poker in the $2,500 short-handed no limit hold'em event. As of 2006, his total live tournament winnings are near $8 million.
Hachem is married and has four children. He also runs a small mortgage brokerage business in Pascoe Vale, a suburb in Australia. Most recently, he has appeared on the television series "Poker Superstars III."
