I was born on September 28th, in Villanueva de la Serena, Badajoz province. I am very attached to my town even though I have lived outside of Villanueva since I was thirteen years old because of my job.
I remember leaving Villanueva to go live and play in Vitoria, it was not traumatic. While in Vitoria I received a proposal after a National Team Championship. After discussing the idea, both my parents as I thought it might be a good decision, my dream was to play, I had not previously thought of playing professionally, we probably did not know what that really meant. Soon after, I started training in Vitoria with the groups of the different Spanish select teams in various levels of training. There I met Pau, Juan Carlos, Felipe and many others. These men have been my friends and colleagues from those years until now. With them we were both European champions and champions of the Manheinm tournament an unofficial world championship. An injury set me apart from the team that participated in the World Junior Championship in Lisbon but I still remember that game I saw from the stands, the final against the USA.
I then played two seasons in Alicante and in Fuenlabrada before returning to Vitoria with Baskonia. There I spent the next three seasons, winning a Copa del Rey, ACB League finalists and finalists in the Euroleague.
At the end of 2004-05 , I considered the challenge of the NBA. Finally the Toronto deal came through. Like all new experiences, I found it hard at first. However, eight years have been very rewarding and I keep great memories.
In early 2013 I was transferred to Detroit to sign with Dallas in the summer of 2013, a four-year contract.
Meanwhile, with the Spanish team a World Championship in 2006, two silver medals at the Beijing Olympics and London and a European Championship in Lithuania, have been the best choice memories.
