Jon Jay was born March 15, 1985 in Miami, Florida and is an outfielder who plays for the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was drafted by the Cardinals out of the University of Miami in the second round (74th overall) of the 2006 MLB Draft. Jay played high school baseball at Christopher Columbus Senior High School in Miami, Florida, where he won the state championship his senior year.
Jay made his Major League debut on April 26, 2010.
On July 27, 2011 starting center fielder Colby Rasmus was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. Jay then took over for the recently traded Rasmus in center field.
In 2011, Jay played in more games than any other Cardinal.
