John Paxson is a former basketball player in the NBA.
He began his playing career at Notre Dame where he became a two-time All-American. Paxson was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the 1983 NBA Draft as the 19th overall pick. He then signed with the Chicago Bulls as a free agent where he made a name for himself.
He is best known for his role in the 1993 NBA Finals when he hit the game winning shot to give the Bulls their third consecutive NBA title. After his playing days were over, he joined the Bulls as an assistant coach. After a year of being an assistant, he went to the broadcast booth. He was an announcer for seven seasons before becoming the Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Chicago Bulls, a position he still holds today.
Today, he lives in Lake Bluff, Illinois with his wife.
