Known as the "Dean of NFL Referees," Tunney was the first official to be named to the "All-Madden Team," holds the top honor (the Gold Whistle) from the National Association of Sports Officials and is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
In his 31 years as an NFL official, Tunney received a record 29 postseason assignments, including ten Championships and three Super Bowls.
Still active in league affairs and many sports issues, Tunney is a member of Commissioner Tagliabue's Officiating 2000 Committee, and was Vice Chair of the U. S. Olympic Committee for Northern California (Sydney 2000 Games).
A celebrated and respected speaker, Tunney's credentials place him in the top 1% of professional speakers working today.
