Born in the small upstate New York farming town of Elmira, Judge Jeanine Pirro, (nee Ferris) is one of New York's most acclaimed politicians. Pirro graduated from Notre Dame High School in three years, earned a B.A. from University of Buffalo, Magna Cum Laude, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, and received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) law degree from Albany Law School of Union University, where she was on law review. Pirro became an Assistant District Attorney in Westchester County in 1975, and in 1990, Pirro became the first female judge to sit on the county court bench.
In 1993, Judge Jeanine Pirro was elected District Attorney of Westchester County, once again setting precedent as the first female to hold that position. Pirro was re-elected in 1997 and again in 2001. Prosecuting murder, rape, domestic violence, and other important cases, Jeanine Pirro received considerable recognition for her work as a leading advocate for victims of domestic violence, enacting game-changing laws. Judge Jeanine Pirro also gained national visibility, appearing on television programs such as "Larry King Live" and "Nightline." In 1997, People magazine named Pirro one of its 50 Most Beautiful People.
In 2006, Judge Jeanine Pirro's career was catapulted to a new level when she was chosen as the Republican Party's candidate for New York State Attorney General.
Judge Jeanine Pirro has been a legal analyst, contributor, and a guest commentator on FOX news. She has made numerous appearances as a legal analyst on CNN, and such shows as "Today," "Good Morning America," "The Early Show", and "60 Minutes".
