Jay Barnett is an actor, motivational speaker and former professional football player. He was recently seen in the feature film, “Hyphen,” the drama/comedy stage play “Order in the Court ” and was also featured in VH1′s reality TV show, Wedding Wars.
In addition to his experience on the big screen, Jay is the founder of Beastmode, a training and mentoring program geared toward training young men to be both physically and mentally adept. Jay’s career in athletics started in 2000, when he became Tarleton State’s first 4 year starter. His enthusiastic and aggressive presence on the field earned him the honor of Defensive MVP as a sophomore, along with a multitude of other accolades. While there, he helped lead the university to its first conference championship, and ultimately led them to a total of two.
Jay graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Business Management. While in school he interned as a strength and conditioning coach at Tarleton and he organized sport specific workouts for the basketball, tennis, and football teams. The skills and knowledge gained while there are at the foundation of his organization, Beastmode. In 2006, Jay had a short stint with the Green Bay Packers, and from there he went on to play fullback in the Arena Football League for the Tulsa Talons and Tennessee Vipers for two years.
