Moving to Los Angeles in 1989, James Eckhouse landed starring roles in several pilots and guest starred on many series leading to his role as Jim Walsh on the hit series 'Beverly Hills 90210'. He has been featured in dozens of films including 'Big', 'Defending Your Life', '84 Charing Cross Road', 'Fat Man and Little Boy', 'Junior', 'Leaving Normal', 'One True Thing', 'SWAT', 'A Cinderella Story', 'Guess Who', and in a highly innovative film due out next fall called 'Half-Life'.
In the past eight years James' career has included directing on stage as well as on film. He was artistic director for several years of the LA arm of the highly distinguished Ensemble Studio Theatre of New York - developing and directing plays in LA and at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen where his production of 'Cats and Dogs' won the MCI jury award. He has directed several episodes on television series including '90210' and the award winning 'Once and Again'.
This past year he directed and produced a documentary on the Western Law Center's work for people with disabilities, directed two plays at the Alex Theater: 'Eastern Standard', and 'The Old Settler' and starred as Ross in the Mark Taper Forum's highly acclaimed production of Edward Albee's 'The Goat',
He lives in Los Angeles with Keliher, his wife of 22 years, and their two children: Zander and Gabe.
