Jake Matthews was born February 11, 1992 and is an offensive tackle who is a top NFL draft prospect. He currently attends Texas A&M University in his senior year. Matthews is considered one of the best offensive tackles of his class.
As a junior in 2012, Matthews was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection. He also received first team All-American honors by the Football Writers Association of America. During his senior season, Matthews played left tackle after playing right tackle for the previous three seasons. From 2010–12, Matthews played alongside Luke Joeckel, who played left tackle from 2010–12. In September 2013, an NFL.com writer asked five NFL executives who's the better player. Two of the five executives said Matthews.As a senior in 2013, Matthews was again a first-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection.
Matthews was selected with the sixth overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2014 NFL Draft.
