Prior to joining Yankelovich, Smith was Director of Research for DowBrands, a wholly owned consumer products subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company. He has served as Vice President of the Marketing Research Division of the American Marketing Association and he has taught numerous research seminars for the American Marketing Association. He is a lecturer at the Annual School of Marketing Research at the University of Notre Dame. A recognized author and speaker on marketing and research topics at numerous industry forums, Smith holds a doctorate in Mass Communications Research from the journalism school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He and his wife Joy make their home in Atlanta, Georgia.
