Iman Abdulmajid was born on July 25, 1955 in Somalia. Her father was a Somali Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. She went to school in Egypt, and then moved to Nairobi, Kenya. There she studied at the University of Nairobi. She became fluent in 5 languages, and studied political science.
Later on, Iman moved to the United States and married basketaball player Spencer Haywood. Together, they had Zulekha Haywood. When Iman and Spencer got divorced, she married british rockstar David Bowie. They had Alexandri Zahra Jones. Now she lives in New York and London.
Iman is a spokesperson for Keep A Child Alive Foundation. This provides drugs for AIDS/HIV children for African and Indian families.
