According to celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman, her story is just another tale of teenage rebellion. "When I was thirteen, my mom didn't let me wear any makeup. That made me want to wear it even more! I'd pile it on," she recalls. "In retrospect, it probably wasn't the best look." Happily for her and her devotees, she's since refined her technique.
Westman is most well-known for her makeup work with celebrities including Drew Barrymore, Natalie Portman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Cameron Diaz. She has served as a makeup artist or makeup supervisor for several Hollywood movies including Being John Malkovich, Buffalo 66, and French Exit, and has done runway makeup for high-profile fashion shows including Oscar de la Renta and Diane von Furstenberg.
In 2003 Westman was hired by Lancome as the brand's International Artistic Director. Her responsibilities included representing the brand at fashion and beauty events, styling models for company advertising shoots, and designing cosmetic color collections for the label. In 2008 Westman became the Global Artistic Director for Revlon, creating the "Daydreamer" and "Suede Rhapsody" seasonal shade collections.
Westman was born in 1971 in California and grew up in Sweden. In 2006 she married Rag & Bone fashion designer David Neville and together they have two children.
