After becoming Miss Las Vegas, Nolin got the attention of several modeling agencies. After her high school graduation, Nolin moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue acting and study interior design at Santa Monica College. Nolin first worked as a waitress in L.A.
She was one of the game show's showcase models on The Price is Right. She also starred as a model named Sandy in the soap opera The Young and the Restless.
In 1995, Nolin starred in her biggest role as Neely Capshaw in Baywatch, alongside Pamela Anderson. In 1998, Nolin quit starring in Baywatch and started her own show, Sheena, in 2000. In late 2001, Nolin posed nude for Playboy magazine, further increasing her fame.
Gene Lee Nolin is a supporter of animal rights and active member of PETA. She posed for PETA's "Exotic Skins Belong in the Jungle, Not in Your Closet" campaign wehere she was nude and painted to look like a snake.
