Faber Dewar joined the cast of "Trading Spaces" in November 2003 as a skilled master carpenter and furniture maker. Woodworking and furniture making is Dewar's passion, and he gladly showcases his knowledge and skill on the show. Faber Dewar is a self-taught craftsman, and began renovating old houses, including buying and restoring antique furniture in Hawaii after moving from England. Faber had a furniture business in Venice Beach, California in 1995.
Faber Dewar's style has a distinct Japanese influence, and he often uses Japanese tools and methods when building. Faber has done work for many Hollywood celebrities including Steven Spielberg and Pierce Brosnan. Dewar frequently uses recycled materials such as leather, ceiling tin tiles, and old copper. Faber recently founded Vanish Products and Packaging, a biodegradable packaging company.
