Ethan is a comedian, writer, and TV host from New York City. As one half of comedy duo Dave and Ethan, he co-created and co-starred in Dave and Ethan: Lovemakers on NBC’s digital platform, Seeso.
As a Certified Cicerone® who has visited over 100 breweries, he most frequently writes about beer for Food & Wine’s FWx, Food Republic, Men’s Journal, and Quartz – but has also written about all types of beverages for Food & Wine, Vanity Fair, Travel + Leisure, Playboy, Tasting Table, Saveur, DuJour, Draft, and All About Beer Magazine. As a contributing author, he wrote a chapter on beer bars and gastropubs for the book Brooklyn Bar Bites (Rizzoli, 2016). Previously, he wrote a weekly column for Serious Eats called “On the Beer Trail,” and freelanced for the Anheuser-Busch News Room.
Holding a WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits (working towards a WSET Diploma), he is an educator in New York City at Astor Center, teaching classes on spirits such as rum and Scotch whisky, and at the Institute for Culinary Education (ICE), teaching a class on beer and cheese pairings. He is also the Beer Director for Merchants Hospitality, selecting the beer menus for restaurants and bars such as Industry Kitchen, SouthWestNY, The Black Hound, and Merchants River House. Previously, he was an official judge in the international 2016 Concours Mondial du Sauvignon competition in Spain, and a keynote speaker at the 2016 US Beverage Expo in Washington, D.C.
Like a hairier (and more reasonable) Dr. Phil, he was previously the Dating Advice Editor for About.com, for which he appeared numerous times on Sirius XM’s Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy. Before that, he wrote the “Ask A Guy” column on gURL.com, wrote extensively about pop culture and dating for Cosmopolitan, MTV News, and Askmen.com, and contributed to The Huffington Post, Women’s Health, The Daily Dot, The Frisky, Nerve, YourTango, Primer, and Death + Taxes.
He is the co-creator and co-star of “Dave and Ethan: Lovemakers,” on NBC’s comedy streaming service, Seeso. He also recently hosted an international video series for Budweiser.
