Erica Rae Hosseini was born on May 24, 1987 in Newport Beach, California. Growing up, she played every ball sport imaginable; soccer, baseball, basketball, volley ball, and even lacrosse. Although she lived on the beach her entire life, it wasn't until she was eleven years old that she got her own surfboard and started surfing regularly.
At age thirteen, Erica started competing in the NSSA (National Scholastic Surfing Association). She struggled the first year, never making it out of a single heat. The next year she figured out how to compete and started winning events. In April 2002, Erica entered the Foster’s Cup at Lower Trestles, her first professional event. She finished 2nd, and at age fourteen had broken the world record by becoming the youngest surfer, male or female to make it to a final of an ASP pro event.
Erica graduated from Newport Harbor High School class of 2005. Because of her hectic traveling schedule for surfing, she put full-time college off and took a few online classes after high school to obtain her real estates license. She is currently a full time competitor on the WQS tour and hope to qualify for the WCT (World Championship Tour) for 2014.
