Eric James O’Shea was born in New Haven, Connecticut. Growing up, hee was an altar boy, considered a nerd, and aspired to be a future Dallas Cowboys quarterback and wide receiver while playing football from grades K-8 at St. Brendan's School. He attended an all boys high school at Fairfield Prep and went on to attend Marquette University, where he majored in Sports Broadcasting. He fell in love with making people laugh in college and for the next 3 years after graduating, he travelled the midwest doing any show he could, paid or unpaied. One night at an open mic night at NYC’s Caroline’s Comedy Club, O'Shea got lucky and was discovered by ABC/DISNEY, who offered him a deal through which he was able to pay off college and move to New York City.
O'Shea won the “2007 National College Comedian of the Year” voted by over 5000 campuses nationwide and has kept busy traveling during that span, averaging over 70+ schools every year, along with corporate shows, festivals, and theaters.
Then one night, tring to combine his broadcasting background with comedy, he created his “Songs for Commercials” bit, which not only got over 4 million hits on YouTube, but also a rave review from Mr. Steven Spielberg.
Eric was invited to perform his “Commercials” Live at the 2009 Creative Emmy Awards. Eric continues working hard, appreciating his family, health, and simplicity. He is always trying to put a fun spin on things, while not losing sight of the most important thing–empathy for others.
