Scott's debut single, "Makin' This Boy Go Crazy", was released in June 2013. Billy Dukes of Taste of Country gave the song three and a half stars out of five. It charted for ten weeks on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, peaking at number 54 in April 2014. The song's music video premiered on CMT in December 2013. Scott's second single, "Mmm, Mmm, Mmm", was released in July 2014. Both songs are included on his extended play, Makin' This Boy Go Crazy, which was released on February 11, 2014. The EP was produced by Jim Ed Norman. It peaked at number 50 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
Scott released his first full length album, self-titled Dylan Scott, in August 2016. It debuted at No. 5 on the Top Country Albums chart, selling 9,000 copies for the week.
Scott's vocal on the brand new single "My Girl" spans a vast range of expressions, from the intensity of the choruses to the spoken-word interlude, and plays out a true story that Dylan remarks was “ten years in the making”. The song, written about Dylan’s girlfriend at the time, and now wife, has already garnered the attraction of legions of female fans. Millions of them, in fact. The song has been cycling among fans for quite awhile which led to the clever revealing of Dylan’s new single, album and impending marriage through the video playlist, “Based on a True Story” on his Facebook page. Dylan’s success in the digital space has created unusually large crowds at his live performances with fans singing practically every word to every one of his songs all across the US and Canada.
