It was February 1989 when York took the stage for the first time. And from there, Dwight established what was his trademark style: clever, concise, non sequitur, impeccably timed setup/punchline type jokes.
Dwight achieved his first major credit in 1995 when he was invited to a national comedy contest, The Vail National Comedy Invitational, where he made it to the final round.
After seven years of honing his act and saving his money, Dwight took his show on the road. As a touring comedian, Dwight added numerous club appearances to his resume. In 1999, he added "published author" to his credits with the release of his book, The Vile File - Jokes too Sick for the Stage.
In 2000, York was invited to be a guest on the nationally syndicated radio program, The Bob and Tom Show where he can be heard as a regular guest.
