Dr. Stefan von Holtzbrinck has been the President and Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors of Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH since 2001. The Holtzbrinck Group is an international Stuttgart-based publishing holding company, with operations in book publishing (Macmillan Group), newspapers (Die Zeit, Der Tagesspiegel, Handelsblatt Group) and various e-ventures including studiVZ, the largest social network in Germany.
Prior to this, Dr. Holtzbrinck worked with Macmillan Publishing in London, beginning as Director of Electronic Publishing, and rising to become Managing Director of the Nature Publishing Group.
Earlier roles included Managing Director of Systhema Verlag (CD-ROM publishing), Founder and leader of the New Media department at Holtzbrinck Group, and the assistant to the CFO of Kirch Media Group.
Dr. Holtzbrinck studied Literature and Law at the Universities of Tuebingen and Munich, completing a Masters in Law and PhD in Media Law.
