He scored 1200 points, and is the Minnesota North Stars all-time leader in points. Dino is largely considered one of the best players in league history to never have won a Stanley Cup (his closest was making the finals in 1995), leaving the Detroit Red Wings shortly before their championship 1997-1998 season.
Dino Ciccarelli is the highest scoring player eligible for the Hockey Hall of Fame but he has not been inducted as of 2005, along with Glenn Anderson. After retiring, Ciccarelli allegedly had several physical altercations with members of the media. Some have criticized the HHOF for focusing on issues other than hockey for his exclusion, but others point out that the induction commitee has maintained such integrity in order to avoid tarnishing such an honour.
Dino and his brother Robert Ciccarelli have been co-owners of the OHL Sarnia Sting since 1994. The Ciccarelli's are also related to Hall of Famer Phil Esposito.
Ciccarelli was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010, eight years after he first became eligible. Press reports speculated that his criminal activity was the reason it took him years to gain entrance
