The Detroit Pride Cheerleaders were formed by Stacey Latona, Director of Marketing & Sales, and Andrea Wilamowski, Director of Operations. Although in the works for over a year, the “Pride” debuted September 19, 2010 at the Detroit Lions home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. The team of 14 received rave reviews from fans and media across the country! In just one short season, were able to reach over 11,500 Facebook fans alone and our success has kept on building to over 30,000 fans across our social media pages and over 250,000 on our website.
Our second season we increased our team to 20 members and now, in 2012, we have grown to 28 ladies ages 18-30. All of these women are professional, educated, adult women, who are completely honored to be Detroit Pride Cheerleaders! Auditions for the 2012 team were held in March at the Marriott Dearborn Inn, with an “Open to the Public” Finals Showcase at The Fillmore Detroit where over 700 people attended!
The goal of the Detroit Pride Cheerleaders is two-fold. While we would love to become sanctioned by the Detroit Lions Organization, the NFL, and be the first ever “Official” Detroit Lions Cheerleaders, we also would like to establish ourselves as positive role models for youth in the community and to help with charitable causes across the state.
