Debi Hemmeter has 25 years of executive experience specializing in strategy, marketing, and business development. Prior to joining Lean In, a global community committed to encouraging and supporting women leaning in to their ambitions, she served as SVP at Bank of America where she led one of the largest retail markets for the bank.
Hemmeter's Lean In Story is about an instance earlier in her career where she had to stand up to her boss when offered a new position within her company and negotiate a better salary for herself. She says "women do a great job negotiating for others, but rarely advocate for themselves. It's important to have confidence in yourself and to negotiate for what you deserve. Debi also held many leadership and strategy roles at Wells Fargo Bank, PepsiCo, and Sara Lee. Hemmeter lives in Piedmont, CA with her husband Chris and her three teenagers.
