David DeWalt is the Chief Executive officer (since November 2012) and Chairman of the Board of Directors (since May 2012) FireEye, Inc. David has more than 20 years in the technology space, holding a series of leadership positions in some of the industry's most innovative and successful companies.
Previous to FireEye, David served as President and Chief Executive Officer of McAfee, Inc. and led the acquisition of McAfee by Intel for $7.7 billion in 2010. This is Intel’s largest acquisition to date. Prior to McAfee, David oversaw customer operations and sales at EMC Corporation. David's responsibilities included channels, alliances and partners, product sales, global accounts, vertical programs and field business operations. David also led EMC’s content management and archiving software business. At EMC, David helped form the EMC Software Group (ESG), which in turn helped transform EMC from a hardware vendor to a complete IT provider. Responsible for a more than $4 billion business, David was promoted three times, ultimately becoming President of Software, Sales and Services.
David joined EMC in 2003 when EMC acquired Documentum, the global leader in enterprise content management. As President and Chief Executive Officer, David led Documentum through nine consecutive quarters of growth, five record revenue quarters and four successful acquisitions before leading the sale of the company to EMC for $1.9 billion.
Prior to joining Documentum, David was founding Principal and Vice President of Eventus Software.
David also held various executive positions as Quest Software, Segue and Oracle Corporation.
Over the course of his career David has helped build companies from startup (Eventus, Quest) to midsize (Documentum, Segue) to some of the largest (Oracle, EMC). A true expert in acquisitions, he led the sale of McAfee, Documentum, and Eventus, has been acquired three times, and has acquired more than 50 companies over the course of his career. David was named one of the 25 most influential executives in high technology by the readers of the industry publication CRN. He has spoken at the World Economic Forum on the issue of cyber security and keynoted at several technology industry conferences including Interop and Software 2008 and RSA.
David Dave has served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Delta Air Lines, Inc. since November 2011 and Five9, Inc. since April 2012. David served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Polycom, Inc. from November 2005 to May 2013 and as its Chairman of the Board of Directors from May 2010 to May 2013 and served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Jive Software, Inc. from February 2011 to April 2013. David holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Delaware.
