Drafted by the Cowboys out of Syracuse where he was an All-American and All-East pick in 1988. Daryl Johnston was named Western New York Player of the Year in 1983 while playing for Lewiston-Porter High School in Youngstown, New York, where he graduated valedictorian of his class. His Lewiston-Porter jersey number, 34, was retired from the program in 2006.
Johnston now a former NFL fullback played his entire career with the Dallas Cowboys from (1989-1999). He was a two time Pro Bowler and participated in the game in 1993 and 1994. Johnston was also a member of three Super Bowl winning teams.
Whenever he touched the ball, "Mooooose" chants roared through out the crowd.
He was also one of the best fullbacks of his day blocking for Emmitt Smith. Johnston was not the lead blocker for Smith's entire career, due to an unfortunate neck injury ending his career early.
Today, Johnston is color commentator on The NFL on FOX.
